It is a long established fact that a good recovery will achieve higher post-surgery satisfaction by the patient. If your doctor says showers only, or no swimming, or tells you not to lift anything heavier than ten kilos for the first few weeks after surgery, there is likely a very good reason for this. Staying hydrated and eating a healthy diet after surgery can help promote healing, minimize common complications and help you get past unwanted side effects of anesthesia. Just remember, it is hard to heal if your body doesn’t have the fuel it needs to get better.

We encourage our clients to plan ahead so they can take advantage of early bird pricing on airfares and hotels. The travel component is important to take into consideration when choosing to go abroad for Medical by combining the surgery cost, and the trip cost will help determine the viability of travelling for surgery and budgeting purposes.

Often people planning to go to Thailand or Mexico for a medical treatment plan to do so by taking holiday leave from work.  You need to be realistic that you are firstly having surgery and secondly recovering in a beautiful location you should not be expecting a  holiday along with a medical procedure is not wise. While you want to stay the required recommended recovery it’s always encouraged to have a buffer of a few extra days for recovery (and consider this your “Holiday”), you should not plan to do much more.

There is no requirement to have Meditravel do your travel bookings; you may book your own or part travel as we understand that our clients can be very tech savvy and happy to book their flights and or hotel. We won’t abandon you because you want to book your own travel we even help to ensure that you  book the best value for money packages. You can even combine web airfares with our Meditravel exclusive hotel pricing.

Even in the circumstance, you book your flights and hotel we will still cover your airport transfers and to and from the hospital. To enable us to schedule those we do need to obtain a copy of the travel itinerary at least two weeks before departure so we can book your transfers

Note: Before completing DYI travel  please check you are staying for the recommend recovery time to avoid having surgery canceled. Ensure a copy of itinerary is sent to your client manager 2 weeks prior to your departure.
