Undergoing Plastic Surgery Thailand- What you need to know!
Plastic surgery Thailand over the years has dispersed the myths of cheap inferior surgery and came out as not only being a cheap plastic surgery option but one where you can have the best surgeons available. In the Australian news, we constantly hear of the unqualified passing themselves off as “cosmetic surgeons or even Plastic Surgeons”. “WHY?” you ask is that allowed, simply because there are no rules preventing them from doing it in place.
Here’s how to choose a Plastic Surgeon Thailand surgeon giving you the confidence of choosing correctly the first time around.
The first thing you need to know is the difference between a Plastic Surgery Thailand Surgeons and a Cosmetic surgeon, thankfully for you, we looked at this in-depth in a previous blog post that you can read here. The training in Thailand is far more stringent than in Australia But you don’t necessarily need a plastic surgeon if you’re simply having injectables, as opposed to a more advanced procedure like breast augmentation or a facelift procedure.
1. REGISTERED WITH SOCIETY OF AESTHETIC PLASTIC SURGEONS OF THAILAND
It is always important to confirm that a plastic surgeon has been certified by the relevant Board of Plastic Surgery in their country. The Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons of Thailand is the main body representing all board-certified aesthetic plastic surgeons in Thailand.
2.ARE THEY A MEMBER OF AN INDUSTRY BODY
Cosmetic surgeons who claim to be Plastic Surgery Thailand board-certified may have received their certificate from a board that is not recognised officially as Plastic Surgery. Alternatively, they may be certified by their specialty board that may not even be a surgical specialty, such as internal medicine. Cosmetic surgeons referring to themselves as board-certified can be misleading if you don’t know the right questions to ask.

Errors can still occur even in the best of hands. Many can be avoided by being honest about previous surgeries, medical histories and having a realistic expectation of the outcomes.
Our Thailand Surgeons always recommend following all post-op instructions very carefully, as this is where infection can often occur. If you have post-operative concerns contact the surgeon immediately as we don’t want for things to develop into something major that could have been averted earlier.”
